27 ft. Wellcraft Boat Detailing – Baldwin, NY

We recently detailed a 27 ft. Wellcraft boat in Baldwin, NY. The 270 Coastal has an excellent design for cruising the Great South Bay, and also proving ample room for fishing. The cabin area is luxurious as it was our privilege to bring new life back into this boat.

We started by giving the entire boat a wash and scrub. There were many black streak around the cockpit area that needed to be addresses. Acetone and a damp microfiber towel allowed us to remove the streaks and stains with ease. After certain areas were chemically treated, we washed the entire boat again to make sure to remove the cleaners left on the gel coat. Since this was a topside detail we spent extra attention to the outside areas above the rub rail. The area around the windows was compounded before a coat of marine wax was applied by machine.

The entire boat received a coat of Royal Satin Marine Wax by Garry’s. The shine really came out on the boat after the wax was removed. The gel coated surfaces were left smooth to the touch and protected from the elements. We were pleased with the results of the boat and hope to detail more boats on the South Shore of Long Island soon.

2003 31 ft. Maxum – Complete Detail – Baldwin, NY

We’ve detailed numerous Maxum boats on Long Island in the past few months. Recently, we detailed a 2003 31ft Maxum in Baldwin, NY. For this detail we started with a full wash and scrub of all fiberglass surfaces to remove loose dirt. After the sun dried the topside we compounded all surfaces to remove oxidation and bring back the shine.

Next, we compounded the hull to remove light surface scratching and prepare the gel coat for wax. After we finished the hull (compounding) we moved back to the topside to apply a coat of premium marine wax for added protection and shine. We followed suit with the hull and were able to bring back the shine to the previously dull gel coat.

The entire boat was left clean, bright, shining, and protected. The owner may have us back this fall to apply another coat of wax before winter as he was pleased with our results. We were impressed with the hydro-hoist the owner had in the back yard to lift the boat from the water. No need for bottom paint for this boat!

1998 Baja Speedboat – Full Detail – Baldwin, NY

Today we detailed a 1998 Baja Speedboat in Baldwin, NY. This boat was found on a hydro lift in the back yard of the homeowner. We started by washing and scrubbing the hull and the bow of the boat. There was heavy oxidation on the hull so we knew that this would require additional time to compound. We moved into the cockpit area of the boat and scrubbed down all surfaces too. After rinsing down the boat and drying it, it was ready to be compounded. The compounding process took longer than we anticipated as this boat was heavily oxidized. We had to go over many areas more than once to bring back the original colors. After removing the compound the boat began to shine again. Waxing this boat was much easier than compounding. The surface was left clean and protected from the elements. We vacuumed and treated the leather seats in the cabin. That area was pretty clean and in good condition. The cockpit area was also detailed and we treated the leather seats as well. The carpet was removed and we scrubbed and shampooed it before putting it back in the boat. We were happy with the final results of this boat despite the extra time needed to bring certain areas back to par due to oxidation. Working on the hydro lift today made things a lot easier for us today.
