2003 Larson Bow Rider – West Sayville, NY

This Larson located in West Sayville was in pretty good condition when we found it. The only area that needed serious attention was the white colored railing above the rub rail. We started by washing the entire boat down and scrubbing all areas to remove dirt and surface contaminants. After rinsing the boat down with water to wash off the marine concentrate, we dried all areas of the boat.

We compounded the areas above the rub rail which removed black streaks, stains, and gel coat imperfections. We used a Porter Cable 7424 XP using a dense foam pad to break down the compound. We applied using a lower speed and broke down the product at speed 6. The results left the fiberglass feeling smooth, clean, and free of visible imperfections.

Next, we applied a coat of high quality marine wax to the hull, topside railing, and cock pit areas. This Larson really shined up after the wax was removed. All leather seats were scrubbed and brightened up after they were dried. We polished the glass, chrome trim, and treated plastic and vinyl trim. We snapped a few pictures before we left as this boat is now shining and protected.

27 ft. Wellcraft Boat Detailing – Baldwin, NY

We recently detailed a 27 ft. Wellcraft boat in Baldwin, NY. The 270 Coastal has an excellent design for cruising the Great South Bay, and also proving ample room for fishing. The cabin area is luxurious as it was our privilege to bring new life back into this boat.

We started by giving the entire boat a wash and scrub. There were many black streak around the cockpit area that needed to be addresses. Acetone and a damp microfiber towel allowed us to remove the streaks and stains with ease. After certain areas were chemically treated, we washed the entire boat again to make sure to remove the cleaners left on the gel coat. Since this was a topside detail we spent extra attention to the outside areas above the rub rail. The area around the windows was compounded before a coat of marine wax was applied by machine.

The entire boat received a coat of Royal Satin Marine Wax by Garry’s. The shine really came out on the boat after the wax was removed. The gel coated surfaces were left smooth to the touch and protected from the elements. We were pleased with the results of the boat and hope to detail more boats on the South Shore of Long Island soon.

1998 Aquasport Detailing – Smithtown, NY

Detailing this 1998 Aquasport boat in Smithtown was a memorable experience for us. As we first looked at that boat we noticed many deep scratches on the hull’s gel coat. There were many stains on the boat that were present at the time the boat was purchased just weeks ago. The owner started removing the brown marks (which came off completely!) however this procedure was done with a metal pad that’s typically used for cleaning pots and pans in the kitchen. Additionally, the gel coat on this boat was weak causing the scratches to be visible as there was no wax on the boat.

We started with a thorough wash and scrub of the entire boat. There were numerous black streaks that had been set in over the years. We used acetone to remove the marks which also cleaned the fiberglass and brightened it up as well. After washing the boat again to remove any chemicals still present on the fiberglass, we dried the boat down to prepare it for machine waxing.

We applied a coat of Gary’s Royal Satin Marine Wax to protect the fiberglass. As this boat is white in color, our choice to use a carnauba based “cleaner wax” made it appear “whiter” than it ever has before. Also, we were able to hide many of the surface scratches that were on the hull. After removing the wax from the entire boat we finished up by cleaning the glass, protecting and polishing the isinglass, and vacuuming the cabin area. The owner of the boat was very pleased with our results and has graciously invited us back next spring to treat the boat before it gets dropped in the water. Another quality boat detailing job performed by Five Star Detailing in 2009!

2007 Ford Explorer Limited – Ridge, NY

We detailed a 2007 Ford Explorer Limited in Ridge, NY last week. This truck was primarily used for work and needed to be detailed. We performed our “Five Star” package on this car which included a wash/scrub, clay bar treatment, and wax. We also detailed the inside of the truck by vacuuming the floors and all carpeted surfaces, treating the vinyl and plastic trim, and polishing the windows.

The final results were great as the white paint really shined! We spent extra time polishing the chrome pieces on this Explorer including the grill and all wheels. We were very happy with the results as this is a gorgeous truck with a luxurious interior. The results after a quality detailing job left this Ford Explorer looking noticeably sharp. The owner was equally pleased with the results and received compliments when going back to work later that afternoon.

2005 Ford Expedition – Full Detail – Ronkonkoma, NY

We’ve detailed many Ford Trucks at Five Star Detailing in the past few months. Recently, we detailed a 2005 Ford Expedition in Ronkonkoma, NY. This was a full detail packing consisting of wash/scrub, clay bar, wax, and interior treatment.

We washed the vehicle down to remove any loose debris from the paint, jams, and wheel wells. Next, we took our clay bar and lubricant to all painted surfaces to level the paint and bring it back to it’s natural state. After washing the vehicle again to remove clay residue, we dried the truck and applied a professional grade carnauba wax to protect the paint and leave a deep gloss on the burgundy colored paint and clear coat.

Last, we treated the tires and the vinyl trim around the exterior of the vehicle and polished the windows. Moving on to the interior, we vacuumed all carpeted surfaces, treated the dash, and polished the windows. There were a few stains we were able to remove from the carpets on the floors that the owner was pleased with.

This detailing job really brought the rich color of the paint back again. We were very happy with the results with the interior especially as we were able to restore the highly coveted “show room” look to all surfaces. The owner was equally pleased and we hope to maintain his fleet of vehicles in the future.
